The Connection Between Brain Functioning, Emotional Well-Being & Behavioral Change
Providing a neuropsychological perspective to support your physical, cognitive, and psychological recovery.
Understanding the Whole Person
A significant medical event or a neurological disorder —whether it is a traumatic brain injury (TBI), a stroke, or a heart attack—rarely affects just the body. It can impact how you think and feel, how you process information, and how you see yourself. My role as a neuropsychologist is to provide information to help you understand the factors that are contributing to the changes, to support you in learning effective strategies to improve your coping and adjustment, and to provide you with tools to reduce the impact of cognitive or physical challenges on your daily life.
Cognitive Rehabilitation
Following a brain injury or the onset of cognitive changes, even basic daily tasks can feel overwhelming. Cognitive rehabilitation involves a personalized approach to learning ways to optimize your cognitive function (restorative strategies) while also helping you adapt and work around changes in your abilities (compensatory strategies). We will focus on practical, evidence-based skills to reduce the daily impact of attention, memory and executive functioning difficulties. My goal is to help you build a toolkit of strategies that allow for greater independence and increased confidence in your day-to-day life.
Integrated Individual Therapy
I provide individual therapy that combines cognitive rehabilitation with support and tools to improve your mood, coping and adjustment. Changes in health, abilities or cognition can contribute to feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, and an altered sense of self. However, these changes can also bring a renewed perspective on what matters most in your life. Together, we will identify what is most important to you, focus on your strengths, and work toward achievable goals that give you a sense of meaning, purpose, and connection.
Family Consultation &Support
When a family member is coping with cognitive changes due to a brain injury or other conditions, it can impact the whole family. I offer consultation to help family members and caregivers understand why their loved one has changed and how they can best support them. We will work together to address care concerns, ease caregiver stress, and help you find a new path forward as a family.Â
A Partner in Your Progress
I have extensive experience helping clients and their families cope with a wide range of medical and neurological conditions, and I would be honored to be a part of your care team.
